In parternship with Portsmouth Public Schools

STARBASE Victory (originally STARBASE Atlantis) is expanding! Since 2001 almost 4,000 Portsmouth Public School sixth graders have graduated; now the program has grown to include 4th and 5th graders as well.

What is it?
A hands-on curriculum that includes components of Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM Pathways) and incorporates SOL learning standards. STARBASE Victory makes learning experiential and fun rather than memorization, thus bringing scientific concepts alive for the children.

The program is a collaboration between Portsmouth Public Schools and a nonprofit, STARBASE Atlantis Hampton Roads (a 501C3). This unusual partnership provides state of the art equipment for classroom learning as well as hands on experiments for each child. The community's support of STARBASE Atlantis through businesses, foundations, and individuals has been phenomenal and is the reason the program is cutting edge and one of a kind in Virginia.

For five days the children experience STARBASE Victory. Each class is accompanied by their teacher who also participates and learns new and different methods of teaching. (Read more about the curricula for each grade level by clicking on the tabs to your right).

Where is it?
To accommodate the growth in the program, STARBASE Victory has moved to the newly renovated Victory Elementary (10 Independence St Portsmouth, VA 23701). One wing of the school (six classrooms and an auditorium) has been dedicated to this science program.
